Born into an artistic family, I would have to classify myself as basically a self-taught artist. I picked up a pencil at quite a young age and began drawing. In my early school years, I discovered paints and the wonderful world of color! My love of the creative process and the arts took off from there. I took every art class and summer program available during my school years and so was able to experiment in everything from clay pottery and sculpture to jewelry, from textiles and rugs to fashion design and illustration; and almost every two-dimensional art form and medium. Forty years later, I still havent narrowed my focus to any one art form. I love to do it all! My first job out of school allowed me to incorporate my natural sense of form and design; I worked in retail display, today called visuals. Later, as a member (and president in 1984) of the Art Department of the Ft. Worth Federated Jr. Womens Club, I was privileged to study with a number of incredibly talented amateur and semi-professional artists, under instructor Judy Tkac Sager, a well known Texas artist; and several of my paintings earned recognition in juried shows. Most of my work is vibrant in color, an essential element in my life in general. My sense of color and how, when and where to use it to bring about the feelings I want to convey in a painting, have always come very naturally to me. I love to paint from nature
.the infinite colors, designs, patterns often repeated throughout nature
so my inspiration comes totally from the beauty of Gods creation. My desire to capture and interpret in my own way the work of the Master Artist, is in thanksgiving to Him for the talent He blessed me with; brings fulfillment to me as a person, and hopefully brings glory to Him. |
