Ihave always had the desire to express myself creatively. When I was younger I sang professionally with a jazz combo in New York and performed in summer stock theater on Long Island. A long hiatus occurred while I raised a family of 3 boys and then went on to work full time. Finally when I retired I found the joy of the creative juices flowing again. I studied at the Jacaruso studio in New York experimenting and working with watercolors. There, at some small local galleries, I sold a number of still life florals. I moved to Florida and began working on landscapes. I enrolled at the Armory Art Center and have been studying as an art student there. I am most appreciative of the talented and versatile instructors that I've had the good fortune to study with. My work is constantly evolving. I am presently learning to work with acrylics. I appreciate most of the old masters painting, however I particularly like Matisses designs, textures, patterns, and colors. I am drawn to the impressionists and had the opportunity to travel to Giverney to see Monets Garden with all its infinite varieties and colors. My desire is simply to have the opportunity to paint for my own satisfaction and to become a reasonably accomplished artist. My dream would be to study art in France and Italy. |
