ABOUT US

The Wellington Art Society first came into being in 1981 when the community was also just newly developed. The organizer was Johanna Secor, a world-renowned artist from Connecticut.

The society's monthly luncheons were held at the Wellington Club East. Guest artists were invited to give demonstrations in various mediums. In addition, members with similar interests met on an informal basis. Over the years the organization has initiated many events for area artists. Also, a college art scholarship fund was begun in 2002 with the first annual $500 Wellington Art Society Scholarship awarded in May, 2003.

The Wellington Art Society has grown in the last few years as more area artists have discovered the benefits of membership and as its visibility in the community has increased.

The society incorporated in 2004 and was granted charitable organization status by the IRS in 2005.

Monthly meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month, September through May.
